An optical transceiver is a networking device that transmits and receives data over optical fiber by converting electrical signals into light signals and vice versa. How an Optical Transceiver Works

An optical transceiver performs two main functions:

  1. Transmission (Tx):

    • Converts electrical signals from networking equipment into optical (light) signals using a laser or LED.

    • Sends the light through an optical fiber.
